UC Nursing’s embedded counselor is Caity Cavanaugh, LPCC (She|Her). Prior to joining UC in Summer 2024, Caity graduated from UC with a BA in Psychology, and from Northern Kentucky University for her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is currently working on gaining her supervision credential.

Caity’s therapeutic approach is broad and typically based around client’s needs and personal strengths. She is informed by DBT, Humanistic, and strength-based theories. She has a strong interest in working with high achieving individuals, concerns with perfectionism, imposter syndrome, relationship issues, trauma/grief and exploring identity. Her approach is collaborative, and she views herself as a partner in her client’s mental wellness. She believes that the therapeutic relationship provides a safe and supportive space to explore new facets of yourself. She has worked throughout her career with diverse clients and communities and has a passion for supporting others through a culturally-informed lens.
