As you prepare for your graduate program, please acquaint yourself with the support network of faculty and staff who will partner with you.

These professionals are knowledgeable about curriculum and program requirements, as well as policies and procedures at college and university levels.They will assist you with registration, student resources, managing academic deadlines and connecting you with services you may need.

Your academic advisor or student success coordinator will contact you once we receive your program confirmation.

  • Academic advisors and student success coordinators help students by:
    • Connecting them to resources at college and university levels;
    • Adjusting course plan as appropriate based on personal circumstances and needs;
    • Monitoring academic progress and assisting with decision-making towards academic and career goals;
    • Providing an environment where students feel valued, respected and heard.
  • Go to your academic advisor or student success coordinator for:
    • Schedule changes;
    • Program and course requirements;
    • Concerns and questions about the program;
    • Connection to university resources;
    • When you are unsure where to go!

Your graduate program coordinator or director is knowledgeable about curriculum, program and clinical requirements, as well as the nursing profession and and licensure requirements. 

  • Faculty advisors help students by:
    • Approving their academic plan and reviewing graduation application;
    • Addressing academic or professional concerns or questions. 
  • Go to your faculty advisor for:
    • Questions on appropriateness of clinical site/preceptor;
    • Questions about nursing and your specialty;
    • Questions about licensure and licensure requirements.

These professionals will assist you in understanding critical requirements and clinical placements, process paperwork and troubleshoot any challenges you may encounter during your clinical experience.

  • Clinical site coordinators help students by:
    • Addressing potential challenges during the clinical placement process;
    • Parterning with clinical sites for required paperwork and processes;
    • Providing access to e-Medley.
  • Go to your clinical site coordinator for:
    • Questions on clinical/preceptor paperwork;
    • Questions about e-Medley;
    • Deadlines and requirements for clinical activities.

Our students are expected to:

  • Check their UC email daily;
  • Communicate proactively when encountering challenges, making changes to academic plans, or needing clarification;
  • Understand all course and program requirements, asking questions as needed;
  • Demonstrate same level of respect and professionalism as you would with patients;
  • Track progress and keep records of communication;
  • Provide all documentation and paperwork as required for clinical placement;
  • Find and secure preceptors who meet mandatory requirements;
  • Adhere to established deadlines to prevent delays in processing.

In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), other third parties (including parents, spouses, employers, etc.) do not have access to your records, and members of our team will not discuss details of your records without your written permission.  For this reason, our team members will refer others to communicate directly with you concerning academic issues.  You should assume responsibility for your education and any transactions with the University.
