Why study Public Health Nursing?

UC's Public Health Nursing DNP online program prepares nurses to respond to public health emergencies and lead efforts to advance public health initiatives at local, state, tribal, federal, and global levels.

Admission Requirements

For admission requirements, visit our DNP Admissions page.

Public health nurses are more needed than ever in the U.S. with the increasing frequency of natural and environmental disasters and public health emergencies, aging population, and increasingly apparent disparities in health care. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated gaps in the fractured U.S. healthcare system, requiring more healthcare providers who can provide team-based, person-centered care; infection control; and other skills.

Graduates of UC's Public Health Nursing DNP online program are ready to assume leadership roles in public health systems, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. These nurses implement evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and systems leadership in public health.
