Lessons beyond the bedside

April 23, 2025

Throughout her academic journey and personal experiences, Trinity Marsh has come to recognize that nursing is far more than bedside care — it is a dynamic, multifaceted profession that integrates science, empathy, advocacy and leadership. Inspired early on by her mother’s proactive approach to wellness and positive interactions with nurse practitioners, Trinity’s decision to pursue nursing was solidified during the COVID-19 pandemic after witnessing how the virus disproportionately affected various communities and how nurses swiftly rose to the occasion and responded to this drastic event with selflessness and courage.

Nursing and boxing aren’t two paths that usually cross, but for nursing senior Jordan Evanko, they have gone hand in hand over the past four years. Finding support and friendship: My journey with UC's iLEAD...

February 14, 2025

Starting my journey at UC College of Nursing was nerve-wracking, especially being far from home and friends. But when I joined the iLEAD program, everything changed. The Learning Community (LC) provided me with a group of supportive peers and mentors who helped me navigate the challenges of nursing school. iLEAD connected us through weekly meetings, offering advice and building lasting friendships. Now, as an iLEAD mentor myself, I love providing the same support to first-year students, ensuring they know they are never alone. UC’s nursing program fosters a community where students help each other thrive, both academically and personally.

Switching my major to nursing

December 4, 2024

From the moment I was accepted into the University of Cincinnati (UC) Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, I knew I had made the right choice. Although I hadn’t realized until my freshman year in the pre-Physician’s Assistant (PA) program that I wanted to switch to nursing, once I made the decision, I had an entire support system to guide me through the transition. Every advisor I encountered was there to offer guidance, explain the requirements and help me prepare for the shift. I truly felt well-equipped for the journey ahead of me.

Passion, community and involvement have shaped my UC experience

December 5, 2024

Jordyn Bailey's deep involvement in different organizations and initiatives stems from a strong belief in the power of community and the responsibility to uplift others. Leadership is not just about individual achievement, but about using one’s position to create opportunities, foster inclusion and give back to those who may not have the same resources or support. Being involved in so many different aspects of campus life has allowed her to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, amplify underrepresented voices and actively contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment.
