Nurse Educator Micro-Credential

Our Nurse Educator micro-credential is a fully online learning experience delivered in manageable, flexible segments designed to prepare nurses with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to excel as educators, mentors and leaders in nursing education.

This micro-credential aligns with essentials in educational theory and pedagogy, curriculum development and promoting strategies for creating inclusive learning environments. It requires a total of two 3-credit-hour courses and serves as an introductory pathway to the Nurse Educator Post-Baccalaureate Certificate or Master of Science in Nursing.

Nurse Educator Micro-Credential Courses

Credit Hours: 3 graduate credit hours
Description: This course focuses on the role of the health care faculty member in developing cognitive, affective and psycho-motor student-learning outcomes. The course emphasizes facilitating learning in traditional, flexible and virtual learning spaces; use of evidence-based teaching; and addressing the needs of diverse learners in classroom and clinical settings.  Offered in the Summer and Fall semesters

Credit Hours: 3 graduate credit hours
Description: This course focuses on the effective use of instructional technology to support learning-centered teaching, such as maximizing the use of current learning-management systems, presentation and instructional video/animation-production software. Students explore virtual reality platforms and simulation in academia. The course also emphasizes pedagogically sound applications of instructional technologies from the perspectives of theory, research, practice and future needs.                                                                        Offered in the Spring and Summer semesters

UC College of Nursing’s graduate certificate programs use a rolling-admissions process and close the application window when programs reach capacity.  

Note: In alignment with the state regulations enforced for our graduate programs, the college cannot accept microcredential applications from individuals who plan to live in the following states while a student: Arizona, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington.
