Direct Admission from High School

High school students apply directly to the University of Cincinnati's nursing major and compete for direct admission to the program.

UC College of Nursing evaluates applications with a multifactorial criteria that considers high school grade point average, a personal statement, honors, awards, leadership roles, volunteer and work experiences, and more.

Admission Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or preparatory school, with official transcripts submitted
  • Completion of 19 units in the following college-preparatory subjects: 
    • English (4 units)
    • Math (4 units)
    • Science (3 units, including 1 biology and 1 chemistry unit with at least a B grade at the time of application)
    • Social studies (3 units) 
    • Electives (5 units. Foreign language, anatomy & physiology, upper-division science courses, and honors, advanced placement or dual-enrollment courses are recommended.)
  • Recommended minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Personal statement
  • Letter of recommendation (optional)
  • Test scores (optional)

Application Deadlines

The early acceptance deadline is Nov. 1 of high school students' senior year. Applications are not accepted beyond that date.
