CATER and IDC
Mission: Through the creative leveraging of technology and inclusive excellence the College of Nursing will lead the transformation of health care in partnership with the people we serve.
Leading with Technology
The Center for Academic Technology and Educational Resources (CATER) and the Instructional Design Center (ICD) partner to realize the college’s mission and are key facilitators of technology adoption in the classroom.
The extent to which faculty and students adopt, integrate and leverage technology in education is closely linked to the quality of support, development and design services readily available. For this reason, the college:
- Adopted a techology-driven strategic plan;
- Improved access to devices, platforms, hardware and software;
- Created a robust professional development program for faculty and staff;
- Built collaborative learning spaces; and
- Integrated workspaces for faculty, instructional designers and IT professionals.
CATER offers comprehensive IT services for the college. The team provides day-to-day IT support and operations management, but also leads the way for the college’s technology implementation and adoption.
The group’s mission is to create an IT environment that facilitates the success of faculty, staff and students. To that end, CATER provides a high level of customer service and innovative solutions, along with a standardized, sustainable technology-enhanced learning environment.
The Instructional Design Center works with faculty to plan courses and design and develop Blackboard and iTunes U courses, Multi-Touch books, learning assessments and activities, and eLearning modules.
IDC gives faculty the unique potential to deliver courses in an imaginative and engaging way that also meets Quality Matters standards.
