Program of Study

The plan of study for the program is individualized for each student dependent upon a student’s acceptance and matriculation into the program and is based upon the student’s previous MSN coursework.

Program Courses

As mentioned above, the plan of study is highly individualized. For an idea of the courses that may be required, review the schema for the Family NP Onsite MSN program.

State Regulations for Online Students

As a result of state boards of nursing and the DOE Higher Education regulation changes, the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing cannot accept applications for the Online Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate program from students residing in the following states: AL, AR, DC, KS, LA, MD, MA, NY, NC, ND, OR, PA, TN, and WA.

Local County Restrictions

The University of Cincinnati College of Nursing has a restriction on admission applications for local students in the Post Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner program. We are not accepting distance learning admission applications from the following counties: Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Clermont in Ohio, and Boone, Kenton, and Campbell in Kentucky. The decision to restrict admissions was in response to increased local competition for preceptors and viable regional clinical sites in primary care. Students who reside in the above counties are encouraged to apply to our onsite Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate program.

Please note that certificate programs are not eligible for federal financial aid; consequently, you will not be able to fill out a FAFSA to seek financial aid for these programs. Students most commonly pay for courses independently, use employer tuition-assistance programs, or seek external scholarships for funding support.
