Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the program take to complete (not including prerequisites)?

The Accelerated Direct-Entry MSN program is five consecutive semesters. Courses are offered in a sequence.

Am I required to complete my prerequisite classes at the University of Cincinnati?

You have the option of completing your prerequisites at UC, transferring college credit from an accredited school attended within the past 10 years, or completing the prerequisites at another institution.

Please check with our advisor prior to registering for a course at another institution to ensure it is equivalent to the prerequisite course at UC. You must earn at least a B-minus grade in all prerequisite courses.

Is there a waitlist?

The Accelerated Direct-Entry MSN program starts twice a year, once in spring semester and once in summer semester, with 48 seats per cohort. Those seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with students qualified for placement. For each admission cycle, we carry a waitlist until the cohort is full. Applicants remaining on the waitlist will be placed in the next starting cohort.

Can I work during the program?

If you must work for financial reasons, it is recommended that you work no more than 20 hours per week during the program.

What financial aid opportunities are available to MSN students?

Onsite MSN students compete with other College of Nursing graduate students for University Graduate Scholarships (UGS) and graduate assistantships. Applications for scholarships offered by the College of Nursing can be submitted each spring semester.
