Gordon Lee Gillespie
Gordon Lee Gillespie, RN, PhD, PHCNS-BC, CEN, CCRN, CPEN, Assistant Professor, was named a 2009 inductee to the Academy of Emergency Nursing. The AEN fellowship is a prestigious honor recognizing emergency nurses for their contributions to patient care in and out of the emergency department.
In a press release, William T. Briggs, RN, MSN, CEN, FAEN, 2009 president of the Emergency Nurses Association shared insight regarding the contributions of the eight inductees. “Over their careers, each of these professionals has shown the kind of leadership and excellence in patient care that exemplifies the very best of emergency nursing. Their superior service to their patients, the profession of nursing and the Emergency Nurses Association is a living example of the principles and dedication demanded for inclusion in the Academy.”
Dr. Gillespie currently focuses on research related to emergency department violence and occupational issues affecting trauma team workers.
Prestigious Honor
In October, Dr. Gillespie was awarded the “Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Nursing” award by the Greater Cincinnati Emergency Nurses Association. He was presented the award for his contributions to Emergency Nursing at their annual luncheon.
