Pre-Nursing Student Orientation

Admission Requirements

The Traditional BSN Program is a competitive four year degree which includes a year of pre-nursing classes and an application to the baccalaureate program. Students can complete the pre-requisite courses as incoming freshmen admitted as Pre-Nursing majors, or as transfer students into the College of Nursing from another UC College or University.

Transfer students wishing to enter Pre-Nursing must show evidence of grade point averages of at least 3.0 or better in current college courses. It is also possible to complete these courses as any major through the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences and Raymond Walters, Clermont College or another University and apply directly to the BSN program.

Admission to the College BSN Nursing Major (Sophomore Year)

  1. To be considered, a student should apply during the application period of May 1-June 30 of the year, they must complete all required pre-nursing courses by the end of summer quarter with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 with no grade below a C- in each pre-nursing course.
  2. Completion of minimum requirements does not assure admission unless the student was admitted to Pre-Nursing as an academic scholar and meets the associated GPA requirement.
  3. Admission is competitive by GPA calculated from Pre-Nursing courses; repeated grades are averaged, with the exception of the presence of multiple History elective courses, in which the highest grade is used.
