Master of Ceremonies
Rob Braun
Rob Braun’s appearance on Cincinnati television was a surprise to no one, except maybe Rob, himself. Being the son of a show business family, everyone expected him to follow in family footsteps. Instead, Rob tended to shy away from it and he ended up owning a food concession business. He and his brother owned the business for 15 years working events such as Cincinnati’s River fest, county and state fairs, and Blue Grass Festivals. Rob also ran restaurants in Cincinnati and North Carolina. During this time Rob dabbled in acting an on-air commercial work. He soon found that the work he was doing was leading him to more on-air work, so he decided to give show biz a try.
Rob began his full-time news career in Knoxville, Tennessee at age 24. At WBIR he hosted a syndicated news-magazine show and also hosted the station’s live coverage of the 1982 World’s Fair. After the fair, Rob began to report news full-time as a General Assignment Reporter, and then was moved to anchor of the 5:30 news.
It was then that LOCAL 12’s News Director, Don North, beckoned Rob home to Cincinnati as General Assignment Reporter. In the fall of 1985, Rob became the weekend anchor for the 6:00 and 11:00 news.
In June of 1987 WKRC-TV introduced “Live at 7”, an innovative award winning newscast that was entertaining as well as informative, anchored by Rob. The show received several awards. Shortly thereafter, Rob assumed the responsibilities of anchoring the 5:30, 6:00, and 11:00p.m. newscasts. He currently works at the anchor for LOCAL12 at 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00. Rob is a multiple Emmy and Iris Award winner.
Rob spends his leisure time with his wife, Jennifer and their children Krista and Robert.
