| Christ Hospital Award Sheila Hicks Cincinnati Health Department Growing up in Avondale, Sheila Hughes Hicks saw what a struggle it is to succeed when there are obstacles in your path. Now, as a school nurse at College Hill Elementary, she works tirelessly to ensure that students have access to the health care they need to succeed in the classroom. "No child with a problem will fall through the cracks under her watch," a nominator said. An eight-year veteran of school nursing, "Nurse Sheila" not only performs the normal duties of a school nurse but also visits children in the hospital, goes to family funerals and even has helped parents get their health needs met. Whether providing a ride to the eye doctor or addressing a childhood obesity problem, she sees the students as "her kids" and means it in every sense.
