Robin Dennison, DNP, RN, CCNS is the director of the Clinical Nurse Specialist/Nurse Educator Master’s degree track. She has an extensive clinical background in care of critically ill adults and is certified as a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist.  Her current areas of interest and expertise include evidence-based practice, patient safety especially medication safety, continued competence of nurses including credentialing and certification, and critical care nursing.

Dr. Dennison received an AA in Nursing from Morris Harvey College (now University of Charleston) in Charleston, WV, a BS in Nursing from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, a MS in Cardiopulmonary Nursing from the University of Delaware, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from University of Kentucky. She also earned a post-doctorate certificate in College Teaching and Learning from University of Kentucky.

Dr. Dennison is a nurse entrepreneur who started her own business in 1984. She continues to consult and teach continuing education programs for nurses during the summer and university breaks. She is the author of Pass CCRN!, a book to prepare nurses to take the CCRN critical care certification exam, which is published by Mosby and is now in the 3rd edition. She also contributes frequently to nursing journals.

Dr. Dennison is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Society of Critical Care Medicine, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Sigma Theta Tau, and National League for Nurses.
