College of Nursing Faculty Christine Colella MSN, CS, CNP Associate Professor Clinical Nursing College of Nursing University of Cincinnati EDUCATION 1973, Diploma, Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing BACKGROUND Prior to her academic career, Christine Colella worked in Boston and New York City in a variety of hospital settings in medical/surgical/clinical areas that included post anesthesia care and intensive care units. She was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Deaconess Hospital and returned to school for a post-masters in nursing to be certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. TEACHING Professor Colella teaches in the Adult Practitioner Program. She teaches such classes as Advanced Health Assessment, and Differential Diagnosis, assisting the graduate student to learn the roles and critical thinking required for advanced nursing practice. She also stays clinically active by working as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in primary care. HONORS & AWARDS APEA Outstanding Poster Award from National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) for poster Brief Interventions: setting the Stage for Change, NONPF 31st Annual Meeting, Chicago IL, April 2005 in collaboration with Judy Laver Dean’s Teaching Award: “Personal Response System Technology: Incorporation into College of Nursing Pedagogy”. A collaborative effort with Judy Laver; $5000 Award, January 2005 Recipient of the 2004 Nurse Educator Award from Mt.
