Meet our Co-op
Program Directors

Sandy Oxley has been a nurse (her second career) for 18 years and has spent that entire time at The University Hospital (TUH) in various specialties. She has worked in the ER, the Oncology, and Medical/Surgical units, as an RN case manager for the in-house Hospitalist Service (Internal Medicine), in Discharge Waiting, on the Intravenous Therapy Team, and as nurse manager for the Surgical Step-Down unit. She is in her fourth year as Associate Director of the UC Nursing Co-op program at TUH. She enjoys many hobbies and spending time with her three grandchildren. Leigh Ann Pansch has been a nurse for twelve years. She has experience in obstetrical, labor, delivery, recovery and pediatric nursing. She has been teaching for the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing for four years. Leigh Ann enjoys her husband and two girls, and Pansch number three is expected in March. Shirley Alsup, RN, MS, CCRN has been a nurse for over 30 years. She has worked in medical/surgical units, emergency nursing and for over ten years at the bedside in critical care units. Shirley worked as a home healthcare supervisor over three counties before returning to the hospital environment. She was a critical care nurse educator at The University Hospital (TUH) for 15 years. She also worked as a staff nurse in dialysis and is a sexual assault forensic nurse at TUH. She serves as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and is very active on the CPR Committee and Rapid Response Team. This has opened up many additional opportunities for the Nursing Co-Op program, which Shirley has been the director of since its beginning in 2003. Shirley is married and has two daughters and four lovely grandchildren. She is active in her church and enjoys reading, sewing and scrapbooking. Contact Shirley at shirley.alsup@uc.edu.

Cindy Gilbert, RN, BSN, has seven years of experience in medical-surgical and oncology nursing. She previously served as a nursing instructor for Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cindy joined the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing in February, 2007. She is the Associate Director of the Nursing Co-op Program at the Mercy Hospital Mount Airy Campus.
