for Americans
The fourth edition of Nutrition and Your Health: Dietary Guidelines for
Americans, a joint publication of the Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture, is
available in both electronic and print formats. The Dietary Guidelines provide
easily understood, science-based information on how Americans can choose diets
that promote good health. Other Internet nutritional links are located on this

The Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, is part of
the US Dept. of HHS and is the lead agency charged with supporting
research designed to improve the quality of health care, reduce its
cost, and broaden access to essential services. It's mission is to

with information on blood pressure, cholesterol, immunizations, weight
control, preventive care for women and much more. A child's health
guide is also available.The AHCPR has information on smoking cessation
for individuals, consumers guide for smoking cessation and much more
consumer health information.

The AHA's site has many patient education features including information on
how to the reduce risk of heart disease and stroke. Take the health risk awareness
quiz for heart attack & stroke online. The site provides healthful tips
on weight reduction, exercise and nutrition. There are descriptions of heart
diseases and conditions, heart surgeries and treatments, heart diagnostic testing
and procedures, and secondary prevention descriptions that can be printed for
pt information. Links to other heart resources are available.
CDC
Prevention Guidelines Database
The Prevention Guidelines Database is a comprehensive compendium of all of
the official guidelines and recommendations published by the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the prevention of diseases, injuries,
and disabilities. This compendium was developed to allow public health practitioners
and others to quickly access the full set of CDC's guidelines from a single
point, regardless of where they were originally published. This database was
developed with financial support from the Information Network for Public Health
Officials (INPHO) project.

Published on the Virtual Hospital web site, this handbook is edited by the Office
of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Public
Health Service. In 60 concise chapters, it provides information on a wide

Mother's Voices
Mother's Voices is a movement of mothers working for a public climate responsive
to AIDS. This national grassroots effort, educates and empowers mothers to
raise their voices to promote public policies that advance efforts for AIDS
