Alumni Association Laura E. Rosnagle Scholarships

Brittney Duval
Brittney is an excellent student who not only does terrific work in the College of Nursing but also does volunteer work for the March of Dimes, the Butler County MRDD and the UC Hoxworth Blood Drive. She has served as a tutor at UC for two years and as a volunteer Cincinnatus tour guide. Additionally, she assumes a leadership role when working with her peers. Employed as a PCA at Good Samaritan Hospital, she will start in the co-op program at the College of Nursing in the fall.

Valentina Macha
Valentina is a high school chemistry teacher in her native Tanzania. During her community health rotation at Hope Academy through the College of Nursing, she worked with some of the students who were interested in her African heritage and wanted to learn more about Africa and African culture. She served as a resource person to faculty and students at the College who traveled to Tanzania in fall, 2005. Informally, Valentina works closely with peers who need assistance studying, particularly with math skills; her leadership skills stand out when she is in any group situation. She works part-time as a PCA in a mother-baby unit and orients new employees. She and her husband are proud parents of a twelve year old son.

Jodi Yee
Jodi’s recommendations speak of her outstanding academic achievement and her participation and leadership in community activities. This mother of triplets is the “go-to” person in her neighborhood for illnesses, accidents or advice in general. She is a part-time volunteer for the Cincinnati Public School District Adult Education Program, tutoring adults to help obtain their GEDs, and volunteers extensively at her children’s school. She has created and led multi-generational land and water exercise classes at the Blue Ash YMCA, including a pre and post pregnancy water fitness course. Jodi has excelled at the College of Nursing with a GPA of 3.9 and she holds a paralegal degree.
