Accelerated Program (MSN) Admission Process & Requirements

Application for the Accelerated Program requires submission of the following materials to the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs Graduate Program Advisor:

  1. An official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university that shows a GPA of 3.0 or above
  2. Resume
  3. Acceptable written professional goal statement
  4. Three acceptable written professional references
  5. A score of 1000 (combined verbal and quantitative) on the Graduate Record Examination and 4.5 or above on the written portion of the exam.
  6. (GRE scores are not required for admission of applicants already holding master's degrees. However, GRE scores are required for applications for University Graduate Scholarship or Graduate Assistantships. GRE scores up to 5 years old will be considered for these scholarships or assistantships.)

  7. Except in the summer, applications to the Accelerated Pathway Program are reviewed on a monthly basis by the College's Student Affairs Council. In recent experience with admissions, Phase II of the program for the following June has been filled by the beginning of Autumn quarter. An alternate list is then started. Thus, early application is a wise choice. It is not necessary to complete prerequisites before applying to the program.
  8. (International students must meet additional requirements. These are set forth on the website of the University of Cincinnati International Student Services Office.)

  9. Completion of Graduate School Application

Prior to beginning course work in Phase II, accepted students must provide satisfactory evidence of required immunizations and completion of a CPR course.
